Type d’habitation développé et implanté au Nunavik par la Société d’Habitation du Québec dans les années 90. Le design et la construction s’inscrivent dans un contexte de restriction budgétaire, suite aux défaillances prolongées des contributions du gouvernement fédéral. Repensé en fonction des expériences associées aux modèles U1 et U2, ce modèle préfabriqué inclut une amélioration du vestibule et de l’entretoit. Plusieurs éléments restent toutefois à améliorer, notamment le rangement et la notion d’adaptation à la vie inuite contemporaine.

 

Dwelling type developed and implemented in Nunavik by the Société d'Habitation du Québec in the 1990s. Design and construction took place in the context of budgetary restrictions, following extended lapses in contributions by the federal government. This prefabricated house has been redesigned based on the experiences of the U1 and U2. It presents improvements in the vestibule and the attic but several possible improvements remain, in particular, with respect to storage and adaptation to contemporary Inuit life.
